My poor poor little horse...Grace...she is not well...something is wrong with her and its hurts so bad to see her like she was today...We are not really sure what is wrong with her but its probably a muscle in her hip that is the problem. Martijn was going out to get her from the pasture and she had been standing still in the same spot for a long time. When he tried to get her to move forward she lost all balace and fell backwards and then she couldnt move her right hind leg.. Her eyes were filled with panic and fear while she deseperatly tried to get back on her feet but that right leg would not stay up straight and she fell again. She was so scared, while she tried over and over to get back up she stumbled over a big log and got a cut on her leg. I rushed in to the pasture and with Martijns help we calmed her down and got her to stand up on all four legs.
We let her stand still for a few seconds before we tried to make her walk again. This time I was holding the leadrope and Martijn was next to her hip to support her if she fell again. This time it was like nothing had happend. She was still upset and chocked but she could walk on all four legs.. like nothing had happend...really strange...we brought her inside, took off the blanket and felt if she was warm or swollen anywhere, but nothing...she felt fine..Just to be on the safe side, we massaged her hip and leg and put a special blanket on her that helps increase the bloodflow and to keep her very warm. She will get some days off from riding and I will just massage her and hand walk her now for a while... My poor gracielee...
